Italian Sausage Lasagna
Let Johnsonville Sausage Expert Joe shows you how to make Italian Sausage Lasagna for that special someone! (Of course, it's also perfect for dinner with family or friends, too.)
Hello again! You know, when it's time to make a great meal for family and friends or something special for just the 2 of you. Nothing beats lasagna made with Johnsonville Italian Sausage. You start by browning a package of all natural Johnsonville ground Italian sausage. Make sure there's no pink in it so that it's cooked all the way through. Then, you're going to take 1 medium onion chopped and 2 cloves of garlic chopped. Mix that in with the sausage and you're going to let it saute for about 4 minutes until the onion softened. And then we're going to add 24 ounces of your favorite Marinara sauce. Let that cook and let those Johnsonville Italian sausage spices sip in. Now, we've made 12 lasagna noodles. According to the package directions, we boil them, drain them, and then brush them with a little bit of olive oil so they'll stick together. Then, prepare baking dish about 9 inches by 13 inches and 2 inches deep. Now, we'll put in our baste of sauce on the bottom. And then, we're going to lay down our first layer of lasagna noodles. Then, we're going to add our ricotta cheese mixture. Now, this is a 15-ounce package of ricotta cheese with 2 cups of chopped spinach, a quarter of a cup of parmesan cheese, and 1 beaten egg. Mix this up and put a quarter of it down on your first layer of noodles. Keep those noodles down to get an even spread. We're going to put a buttercup of our Johnsonville Italian sausage and sauce mix. Then, we're gonna add about a quarter of a cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. There's your first layer. You're going to repeat this 3 times. Now, this is our fourth and final layer and if you don't have a pan that's big enough for 4 layers, don't worry. A 3-layer lasagna is just as good. Lay down our noodles, put down our ricotta cheese. I really love this final layer because this is the one that's gonna have that big bubbling layer of cheese on top that makes lasagna so good. Then, final layer of our sausage and sauce mix, spread that out evenly. Then, our mozzarella cheese, I'll put the whole thing on there, why not? Then this final layer, gets parmesan cheese about a quarter of a cup and then we're gonna top that off with some chopped, dried oregano. It looks good. That's a nice little kick of taste on the top there. Then, we're going to suit up. We-re gonna put this lasagna in the oven at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until it gets all hot nice and bubbly on the top, and when it is done, you have got a dish of comfort food your family will never forget. Let it sit for 10 minutes to settle, cut and serve. You'll find this recipe, lots of others and some great cooking tips at JohnsonvilleKitchens.com.
