How to Make Sesame Snap Peas with Carrots & Peppers
This healthy Asian inspired side dish is easy to whip up for a quick weekday meal. The combination of snap peas and carrots with red bell peppers tossed in sesame oil and seeds will be a flavorful treat.
-Hey everyone, I'm Judith. Well today, I'll be showing you how to make a healthy Asian inspired side dish. We'll be making Sesame Snap Peas with carrots and bell peppers. So, what you'll need is 8 ounces of sugar snap peas trimmed; 1 small red bell pepper cut into thin strips; 1 large carrot, peeled and thinly sliced; 1 tablespoon of reduced sodium soy sauce; 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame oil; 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds and freshly ground pepper to taste. First things first, this is a very easy recipe to do and really very, very healthy. So, all you need is our large saucepan here. We filled it up to about 2 inches of water without it boiling and we have our steamer basket here inside as you can see. So, very simply, we're gonna add in all our veggies into the steamer basket, and we're gonna let this steam for about 5 to 7 minutes until they are nice and tender. I like a little bit of a crunch on my vegetables. So, obviously, steam them to your preference. So, once they're steamed, we're gonna add in the rest of the ingredients. Our veggies have been steaming now for about 5 to 7 minutes. So, we can take that off the heat, and I actually like mine with a little bit of a crunch as I said before. So, I don't mind taking them off a little bit earlier, and all we gonna do is simply put them into a nice mixing bowl and I really love this Asian inspired dish because we're gonna add in some of that lovely sesame oil, one of my favorite oils to use. Be careful not to overdo with sesame oil because it is pretty strong. Get all those lovely snap peas in there. That's fantastic especially if you're serving it for dinner party because it's full of color, makes the table look really fabulous. So, give that a good mix. Into the mixing bowl goes our soy sauce and you can add a little bit of salt if you want, but the soy sauce has enough salts there, our sesame oil, just love that smell. Dash it that black pepper and our sesame seeds on top of that. Give that a good mix, oh so fresh and that is one perfect side dish. Serve that with a nice poached salmon or you know, roasted salmon and that will be beautiful. So, there you go, very quick and easy, that's how you make sesame snap peas with carrots and peppers.
