How to Make Sweet Potato Bake
Who would have ever thought that marshmallows would taste so good with sweet potatoes? Find out just how good they are when you make this sweet potato bake.
-Hey everyone, I'm Judith. Well today, I'm gonna show with you how to make a delicious sweet potato bake. So, the ingredients you will need for this are 3 cups of mashed sweet potatoes; 2 tablespoons of margarine or butter, softened, we're using butter today; 1 teaspoon of grated orange peel; 1/2 teaspoon of salt; 1 cup of miniature marshmallows; 3 cups of corn flakes crush to 1-1/2 cups; 2 tablespoons of margarine or butter melt, and we are using the butter. Very good, alright, so, we preheated our oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, so it's getting nice and hot for our bake. Now, in a 1 quart baking dish, which we've sprayed with cooking spray, we're gonna add in our lovely mashed cooked sweet potatoes into the dish, huh, they are good, and very good for you, may I add good source of dietary fiber and good to stabilize your blood sugar. Our orange peel goes in there and that citrus is just gonna bring out the sweetness of the sweet potatoes. Our soften butter goes in there too and our salt. So, let's just mix that all together in our dish like so. I love using sweet potatoes in bakes. They just taste so good and when you're doing what we are doing, which is adding a different texture because we're gonna add a little it of a crunch as you'll see in a minute, it's gonna taste even better. So, flatten that out now once it's all spread in. Looking good, looking good. On top of that, we're gonna add in our little mini marshmallows, so you can get them stick in there a little. So that's just gonna give it a lovely sweet, fun touch. There you go. Who would thought marshmallows would be good to sweet potatoes, but I'm telling you, they are, really are. So, we'll put that all in until it covers the whole of the casserole. There you go, so, we spread them around there nicely. So that's all marshmallows on top of that. Now, let's mix in our cornflakes as we have there. So, this is gonna give this is gonna give the whole bake a nice crunch, a nice different texture to contrasting the sweet potatoes. So, into the cornflakes goes in our melted butter like so, give that a nice good mix. Oh, I'm very tempted to eat this right now, but I won't. Okay, very good, and when we'll just sprinkle these on the top of our bake like so and so [unk] that some of those marshmallows popping through. That will be good. Alright, so, that goes into the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. We've taken our sweet potato bake now from out of the oven. It's been in there 30 minutes and the crunchiness as you can see it's all nice and golden brown where the cornflakes are. Those marshmallows have nicely melted into our sweet potatoes. So, let's just serve that up now. Get a nice corn apart and that's a great dish to bring to a potluck or around to a dinner, really, really nice, sweet treat. There you go.
