How to Make Old Time Fried Chicken

This old time fried chicken recipe is great for having friends over or watching a game. The chicken is crispy, delicious and is served well with a bit of coleslaw.

Hey, everyone! I'm Judith with and today I'm gonna be showing you how to make All Time Fried Chicken, a classic seven dish. So, what were gonna need is 3 pounds of fryer chicken which we've cut up, 2/3 of a cup of water, 1 (5-ounce) can of evaporated milk, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper right there. Now, we have our large skillet going here and we have put enough cooking oil into our skillet and to cover about half an inch, we're going-- let it get nice and hot, so that's where were gonna be frying with. So, medium heat there while we prepare the rest. So, first of all let's prepare our flour. So in a baking dish, we'll put our flour and our salt and pepper. Get the salt in there. There we go. I'm gonna give that a nice little mix in there. Okay, we can set that aside for one moment. Now, were gonna do our milk and water mixture. So, let's get in our evaporated milk into the bowl and our water. This is the very basic classic way of making your Fried Chicken. Just give it a little mix. Good stuff and what we're gonna do is deep our chicken pieces into the milk. So, we got them covered and we're gonna put them down on a plate. So, get them nice and covered with the milk. There we go. It's a really great treat to have. Good for parties or when you have lots of friends over to watch the game or something. Fried Chicken, it's great. Alright, so once that's covered with that milk, let's get our flour back here and we are gonna deep our chicken into the flour and this is gonna be a necessary step before we fry our lovely chicken. So, we'll get them all covered there. It's really simple and easy, really. Don't need much in the way of ingredients and chicken pieces you can get pretty inexpensively. So, our oil should be nice and hot now just the way we want it and, we're gonna add in our chicken pieces. Let me use some tongs here and that should fry up nicely. Be careful now because the oil is gonna spit. Very good, so put all of that in there and we're gonna cook this for 10 minutes until the bottom is golden brown then we're gonna turn them over and do it for another 15 minutes. So, we turn our chicken over, 10 minutes into it and we've done 15 minutes on this side and they should be just about done now. You can put a fork in the-- a fork in it and if it's easily pierced then it should be done. So, we're gonna take them out, get our paper towel on top our plate to soak in all that grease and that's it. I mean just look how beautiful they look.
