Taco-Turkey Sandwiches

You make a spicy spread for these turkey sandwiches, which are heated in the oven.

1/2 cupchopped pitted ripe olivessee savings

2 tablespoonsdairy sour creamsee savings

2 tablespoonsmayonnaise or salad dressingsee savings

4kaiser rolls or hoagie buns, splitsee savings

8 ouncesthinly sliced cooked turkey breastsee savings

1/2 cupshredded cheddar cheese (2 ounces)see savings

1/2 cupshredded Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers (2 ounces)see savings

4thin tomato slices, halved (about 1/2 of a large tomato)see savings

Sliced jalapeno peppers* (optional)see savings

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degree F. In a small bowl stir together the olives, chili powder, cumin, and salt. Remove 2 tablespoons of the mixture; set aside. Stir green onions, sour cream, and mayonnaise or salad dressing into the remaining olive mixture.

Spread sour cream mixture over cut side of roll bottoms. Place on a large baking sheet, cut side up. Top with the sliced turkey. Place roll tops on baking sheet, cut side up. Sprinkle tops with cheeses and reserved olive mixture; top with the tomato slices. Cover loosely with foil. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until heated through.

To serve, combine sandwich halves. If desired, serve with sliced jalapeno peppers. Makes 4 servings.
Note
Hot peppers contain oils that can burn eyes, lips, and sensitive skin, so wear plastic gloves white preparing them and be sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
