Ingredients
  • 2  cups
    heavy whipping cream

  • (14-ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk

  • 1  quart
    half-and-half

  • fresh ripe strawberries pureed with 1/2 cup sugar*

  • 1  tablespoon
    vanilla extract

  • Up to 2  quarts
    milk (as needed)

Directions
1.
With an electric mixer at high speed, beat whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add condensed milk and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
2.
Add half-and-half, strawberries, and vanilla; stir.
3.
Pour mixture into the canister of a 4- to 6-quart ice-cream freezer. Add milk, if necessary, to fill canister to the freezer line. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.

For a 1-quart gel freezer:
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup half-and-half, 1 cup fresh strawberries pureed with 2, tablespoons sugar*, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, Omit milk
*If fresh strawberries are not available, substitute 1 cup frozen sweetened strawberries, thawed.
