  • 1  cup
    Kellogg's® Smart Start® Strong Heart Toasted Oat cereal, coarsely crushed

    dried fruit, such as cranberries, snipped apricots, and blueberries

    toasted wheat germ

    whole wheat flour

    regular rolled oats

    coarsely chopped nuts and seeds, such as pecans, sunflower kernels, and pumpkin seeds

Directions
1.
In a large bowl combine KELLOGG'S SMART START cereal, fruit, wheat germ, flour, brown sugar, spice, and salt; set aside. Place rolled oats in a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; bake at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes. Add nuts and seeds. Bake 5 minutes more or until lightly toasted; cool. Add nut mixture to cereal mixture.

In a bowl combine egg whites, honey, oil, and vanilla. Add egg white mixture to cereal mixture; stir until moistened.

Spread cereal mixture evenly into a 13x9x2-inch baking pan lined with foil that has been lightly coated with cooking spray. Bake at 325 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Use the foil to lift bars from pan. Cut into rectangular bars. Wrap bars in plastic wrap and store at room temperature up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
