  • 8  ounces  dried fusilli or spaghettiOn Sale
  • 2  tablespoons  olive oil or cooking oilOn Sale
  • 1-1/2  ounces  Italian bread, torn into small pieces (1-1/2 cups)On Sale
  • 8  ounces  uncooked Italian sweet or hot sausage, or ground beefOn Sale
  • 2  medium  green tomatoes, cut into wedgesOn Sale
  • 1  medium  red onion, coarsely choppedOn Sale
  • 1  medium  red, green, or yellow sweet pepper, cut into bite-size piecesOn Sale
  • 1  26-ounce jar  pasta sauce with olivesOn Sale

Directions

Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.

Meanwhile, in a large skillet heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add bread pieces. Cook and stir for 2 to 3 minutes or until bread is toasted. Remove from skillet; set aside.

Remove casings, if present, from sausages. In the same skillet cook and stir the sausage or ground beef, tomatoes, onion, and pepper over medium heat 6 to 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender and sausage is browned. Drain off fat. Stir in pasta sauce. Cook and stir until heated through. Serve sauce over hot cooked pasta; sprinkle with toasted bread pieces. Makes 4 servings.
