  • 3   pounds   sweet potatoes, pricked several times with a forkOn Sale
  • 3     Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and sliced lengthwiseOn Sale
  • 1/4   cup   fresh lemon juiceOn Sale
  • 1   cup   pecan halvesOn Sale
  • 8   tablespoons   butterOn Sale
  • 1/2   cup   firmly packed light brown sugarOn Sale
  • 1/2   cup   honeyOn Sale
  • 2   tablespoons   dark rumOn Sale
  • 1/2   teaspo on   ground cinnamonOn Sale
  • 1/4   teaspoon   ground gingerOn Sale
  • 1/4   teaspoon   ground maceOn Sale

Directions
1.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Bake sweet potatoes until tender, about 45 minutes. Cool and peel. Cut potatoes crosswise into 1/4-inch slices.

Toss apples in lemon juice.

Butter a 13-x-9-x-2-inch baking dish. Arrange sweet potatoes and apples in a dish. Sprinkle with pecans.
5.
In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, honey, rum, cinnamon, ginger, and mace. Cook mixture over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Pour over potato and apple mixture.
6.
Bake for 30 minutes, basting occasionally with butter sauce. Then place pan under the broiler, approximately 4 inches from heat, until edges of potatoes and apples are slightly brown.
