How to Bake Sweet Potatoes
For a sweeter and more nutritious alternative to baked white potatoes, you should take note of how to bake sweet potatoes. Hey, everyone. I'm Judith with Recipe.com, and today, I'm gonna be showing you how to make Baked Sweet Potato Fries, a healthier alternative to your normal fries. So what you're gonna need is one pound of sweet potatoes. We have about 3 medium size sweet potatoes. Now, we've left the skin on so we gave them a good scrub. We've cut them lengthwise into quarters, and then we've cut them again into two wedges, and so we have them nice and sliced here. We have a quarter teaspoon of salt, a dash of nutmeg, and we have a tablespoon of butter which we've melted. So, first things first, let us combine our ingredients, so we'll put in our butter here, our salt, and our nutmeg. So we'll give that a quick stir and that's gonna be a nice...base for our sweet potatoes. Gonna brush that on to them after. So, we've lightly coated a baking pan with some cooking spray and now we're gonna place our sweet potatoes in one direction so that when we flip, we know which direction we're flipping in and we know which side has been cooked. Now, while we've been doing this, we have pre-heated an oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and that is warming up now for our sweet potatoes so let's put all this on here. All right. Now, let's get one of these little brushes and we're gonna brush our butter mixture on to our sweet potatoes, so let's do like this. And we'll give our potatoes a flip and we'll just do the other side. So now that our sweet potatoes are all basted, we're gonna put it in the oven for 30 minutes until the sweet potatoes cook through. Now, make sure, around 15-minute stage, that you flip your potatoes to get the other side done, too. So it's been 30 minutes and we've taken our sweet potatoes out of the oven and they look just gorgeous. They browned beautifully. Nice and crispy and now that's ready to serve as a side dish or with a little bit of mayonnaise or garlic aioli and we're great, and that's it, everyone, that's how you make your Baked Sweet Potato Fries. Lightly coat a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Scrub potatoes; cut lengthwise into quarters. Cut each quarter into two wedges. Arrange potatoes in a single layer in pan. Combine margarine or butter, salt, and nutmeg. Brush onto potatoes. Bake in a 425 degree F oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until brown and tender. Makes 4 servings.
