How to Make Mozzarella Sticks
Whether you like them as an appetizer to your favorite Italian meal or as part of a snack spread when you have the gang over to watch the game, it's worth learning how to make mozzarella sticks at home. They're way more flavorful that those frozen ones at the supermarket, and the texture blows away packaged versions. This recipe uses crushed Rice Krispies for a light and crispy coating, and the mozzarella sticks are cooked in the oven instead of the deep fryer. Serve them with a side of marinara sauce or salsa for dipping, and you've got a no muss, no fuss appetizer.

Hi, I'm Miranda. And, today I'm gonna show you to
make cheese sticks. So, we're gonna be able to enjoy
all that like tasty, delicious, satisfying crunch from this deep
fried mozzarella cheese sticks without the fat from the deep
frying. Who doesn't love that? I have our ingredients all
laid out here so let's get cooking. So, we're gonna
start with 4 cups of Rice Krispies, crunched
and crashed down to one cup. Then, we have a
half a teaspoon of garlic salt, a half a teaspoon
of oregano, a quarter of a cup of all-purpose flour,
2 egg whites, 2 tablespoons of water and then 1/8
ounce block of mozzarella cheese. Okay, so we are gonna
begin by adding in the oregano and the garlic salt
here. Just mix this around, the crashed Rice Krispies. Awesome.
And, then,
I have these 2 shallow- you can either use like
shallow bowls or pipe [unk] I have here 'cause we're
gonna have a little assembly line. We're gonna do a
little assembly line goodness. So, let's do the flour in
one and then we'll add a water into our egg
whites. Give that a nice little whip, mix it altogether
and pour that here. Brilliant. Okay. Put that to the
side and we can just sit those over here for
a minute because we were gonna make our mozzarella sticks.
So, this is fun. So, we are
gonna make a total of 16. So, I'm gonna cut
it in half here and then I need a total
of 8 sticks on each side to make 16. Okay.
And, then let's cut this into 4's. Beautiful and then
so
Look, we have 8 little cheese sticks and I'm just
gonna do the same for this one. Okay, so I
have my little assembly line and then over here I
have a baking sheet lined with foil and then you
know spray with cooking sprays which is nice and grease.
The oven behind me is pre-heated to 400 degrees so
let's get cooking. So, we're gonna begin by just dipping
a cheese stick in flour, drenching it in the flour.
Okay. And then we're gonna get our hands dirty. This
is fun, should be fun thing for kids. Drop it
in the egg mixture. Gonna
make sure it's nice and coated, slippery. I'm warning you.
Okay. And, then into the cereal mixture. Do not be
shy. Fantastic. And, then flap it on here and we're
just gonna continue until all of our cheese sticks are
nice and covered. All right, so my cheese sticks are
all ready to pop in the oven. So, we're gonna
put them in the oven at 400 degrees for about
8 minutes until the cheese is nice and melted and
gooey and the outsides are a little bit brown. So,
who needs to go to a restaurant? Because look we
have made our very own cheese sticks
again with none of the fat from frying. We baked
them, they're yummy, gooey, delicious. Now, for a little something
different I have been them paired here with a little
bit of salsa or you could do you know Marinara
Pizza Sauce or just eat them plain but, make sure
they're hot and make sure you enjoy your cheese sticks.
