Made with half ground turkey and half ground beef, these peanut topped burgers take America's favorite sandwich in delicious new direction.

Ingredients
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
2 large onions, chopped (3 cups)
-
6 tablespoons water, or as needed
-
3/4 pound ground beef
-
3/4 pound ground turkey
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce
-
1-1/2 teaspoons dark Asian sesame oil
-
3/4 cup finely chopped unsalted peanuts
-
6 Kaiser rolls, split and toasted*
-
Garnish (optional):
-
Sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, pickles
Directions
1.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large nonstick skillet. Add onions; saute until golden brown, 10 minutes, adding 2 tablespoons water each time skillet seems dry. Scrape into large bowl.
2.
Add beef, turkey, soy and sesame oil to onions. Shape into 6 patties, 4 inches in diameter. Spread nuts on waxed paper; press one side of each patty into peanuts.
3.
In same skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil. Working in batches if necessary, add burgers, peanut side down, to skillet. Cook 5 minutes; turn over; cook 5 to 7 minutes, until instant-read thermometer inserted in centers registers 165 degrees F.
4.
Serve burgers on toasted rolls with tomato, cucumber and pickles.
Note
Burgers may be served on grilled or broiled portabella mushrooms.
