Nutty Broccoli

This crunchy vegetable side dish recipe can be prepared from start to finish in less than 30 minutes.

Ingredients

1 poundbroccoli, trimmed and cut into 2-inch piecessee savings

3 tablespoonsbuttersee savings

1/2 teaspoonfinely shredded orange peel (set aside)see savings

2 tablespoonsfresh orange juicesee savings

1/4 teaspoonsaltsee savings

-
3 tablespoonschopped walnuts, pine nuts, or pecans, toastedsee savings

Orange wedges (optional)see savings

Directions

If desired, cut broccoli stem pieces lengthwise in half. To steam, place a vegetable steamer basket in a 3-quart saucepan. Add water to reach just below the bottom of the basket. Bring water to boiling. Add broccoli to steamer basket. Cover and reduce heat. Steam for 8 to 10 minutes or just until broccoli stems are tender. Transfer broccoli to a serving dish.

Meanwhile, in 8-inch skillet melt butter over medium-high heat; cook and stir butter for 3 to 4 minutes or until medium brown. Carefully add orange juice and cook for 10 seconds. Remove from heat; stir in orange peel and salt. Pour over broccoli. Sprinkle with walnuts. If desired, garnish with orange wedges. Makes 6 servings.
