No-Bake Holiday Treats

From Betty's Soul Food Collection... Everyone's sweet on this no-bake holiday treat--crunchy cereal mixed with gooey marshmallows and decorated with glittery sugar magic. Pop some in boxes for gifts, too.

Ingredients

6 cupsHoney Nut Cheerios® cerealsee savings

-
1/3 cupbutter or margarinesee savings

-
4 1/2 cupsminiature or 48 large marshmallowssee savings

-
5 ouncesvanilla-flavored candy coatingsee savings

-
Edible glitter, colored sugar or candy sprinkles, as desiredsee savings

Directions
1.
Butter bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan. In very large bowl, place cereal. In 3-quart saucepan, heat butter and marshmallows over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted and smooth. Pour over cereal; stir until cereal is well coated.

Using buttered back of spoon, press mixture evenly in pan. Let stand at room temperature about 1 hour or until firm.

Loosen edges of cereal mixture with metal spatula; remove from pan. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters about 1 inch deep. In small bowl, microwave candy coating on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth. Dip tops of treats in coating, or drizzle coating over top of each. Sprinkle with edible glitter.
No-Bake Cereal Surprises:
In very large bowl, place cereal. In 3-quart saucepan, heat butter and marshmallows over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted and smooth. Pour over cereal; stir until cereal is well coated. Let stand 5 minutes or until cool enough to handle. For each treat, lightly butter hands and shape 1/4 cup cereal mixture around 1 large gumdrop or milk chocolate candy drop or piece. Immediately roll each in candy sprinkles.
