Kumquat snake:
Thread a 24-inch-long piece of clean dental floss onto a sewing needle that is longer than the kumquats. Triple-knot the end of the floss. Thread about 20 kumquats, one at a time, onto the floss. When the snake is about 18-20 inches long, rethread the remaining dental floss back through the kumquats as far as possible. Trim off the visible floss. On the first kumquat, press in two whole cloves for eyes and make a slit with a small sharp knife to insert a small piece of maraschino cherry for a tongue.
