Lemonade Syrup

From: Better Homes and Gardens

Keep a pitcher of this syrup in the fridge to be ready to mix fresh drinks at the drop of a hat.

Ingredients
1 cup fresh mint leaves
2 12-1/22 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons lemon juice (juice of 6 lemons)
4 tsp. finely shredded orange peel
2/3 cup orange juice (juice of 2 oranges)
Ice cubes
Water

Directions
1. Place mint leaves in a large pitcher; set aside. In a small saucepan, heat and stir the 2-1/2 cups water and the sugar over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; pour over mint leaves. Stir in lemon juice, orange peel, and orange juice. Cool for 1 hour. Pour into a large jar. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours or up to 3 days, removing the mint leaves after 8 hours.
2. For each serving, fill a 12-ounce glass with ice cubes. Combine 3/4 cup water and 1/2 cup of the lemon juice mixture; pour over ice in glass. Makes 10 (12-ounce) servings.
