Jamaican Jerk Rub

Ground pepper and spices give this rub a Caribbean kick. Use it on chicken before grilling.

    ground red pepper

    ground nutmeg

    ground cloves

Directions
1.
In a small mixing bowl stir together the sugar, onion powder, thyme, allspice, black pepper, red pepper, salt, nutmeg, and cloves.

Transfer mixture to a small airtight container or bag. Store at room temperature for up to 6 months. Makes about 1/2 cup seasoning.

To Present This Gift...
Wash and dry the shaker. Avoid touching the areas to be painted. With a paint marker, draw a zigzag line around the edge of the jar lid, adding dots as desired. Add another line in a contrasting color. Let dry. Include preparation directions, below, with gift. For the tag, cut a small square from corrugated paper. Cut a smaller square from white card stock. Glue the white square in the center of the corrugated paper square. Let glue dry. Punch a hole in one corner. Thread cord through hole and tie onto shaker handle.
