Ingredients
-
2 teaspoons butter or margarine
-
2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping
-
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped pecans
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
-
3 ounces Havarti, baby Swiss, Gruyere, or fontina cheese, about 3/4 inch thick
-
2 cups fresh fruit such as strawberries, sliced peaches, grapes, apricots, pears, and/or apples
-
French bread slices, toasted
Directions
1.
In a grill with a cover, place a 6-inch cast iron skillet or other heavy pan on grill rack over medium-low heat. Add butter or margarine. Stir in caramel topping, pecans, and cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Spread over the bottom of the pan.
2.
Place the cheese on top of the caramel mixture. Lower the grill cover and grill for 3 to 4 minutes or until the cheese is softened and heated through, but doesn't run or lose its shape.
