When dessert time comes around, go back to the grill to cook this caramel apple sauce. For outdoor entertaining, scoop the ice cream into plastic cups.

  • 2  medium  red cooking apples, cored and slicedOn Sale
  • 1  tsp.  grated fresh gingerroot or 1/4 teaspoon ground gingerOn Sale
  • 2  Tbsp.  butter or margarineOn Sale
  • 3  Tbsp.  packed brown sugarOn Sale
  • 1/3  cup  apple juiceOn Sale
  • 1/2  tsp.  cornstarchOn Sale
  • 2  cups  vanilla or cinnamon ice creamOn Sale

Directions

Place a large skillet on grill side burner. In the skillet, cook apples and ginger in butter over medium heat about 3 minutes or until apples are just tender. Stir in brown sugar. In a small bowl, combine apple juice and cornstarch; add to skillet. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Cool slightly.

Scoop ice cream into dessert dishes. Spoon apple mixture over ice cream. Makes 4 servings.
