Ginger-Fruit Compote
Fresh fruit and a simple syrup make this ginger-flavor dessert recipe both simple and healthful.

Ingredients

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup sugar

4 teaspoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon snipped crystallized ginger

4 cups assorted fruit (such as sliced kiwifruit, orange sections, chopped apple, sliced banana, berries and/or seedless red grapes)
Directions
1.
For syrup, combine water, sugar, lemon juice, and ginger in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl. Cool. Cover and chill up to 24 hours.

Place fruit in a large serving bowl. Pour syrup over fruit, tossing gently to coat. Cover and chill up to 24 hours. Makes 6 servings.
