This easy beef roast uses beer and ketchup to makes its own sauce as it cooks.


German-Style Beef Roast

Ingredients
  • 1  3-pound
    boneless beef round rump roast

  • 1  12-ounce can
    beer
    see savings

  • 1  cup
    ketchup
    see savings
    On Sale

Directions
1.
Trim any excess fat from roast. Place in a Dutch oven or kettle.
2.
In a bowl, stir together beer and ketchup. Pour over beef.
3.
Cover and bake in a 325 degree F oven for 2-1/2 hours or until tender. Remove meat from Dutch oven. Cool slightly.
4.
Slice meat and return slices to sauce in Dutch oven. Bring mixture to a boil and simmer, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes. Skim fat from sauce and serve sauce with the meat. Makes 10 to 12 servings.

Make-Ahead Tip
Prepare roast as directed. Slice meat; transfer meat and sauce to a storage container. Cover and chill up to 24 hours. To serve, reheat meat and sauce as directed.
