Here's the classic recipe you enjoyed as a child, updated with fresh garlic, parsley, and kosher salt. Look for a plump baguette that is soft and easy to pull apart.
Recipe from Better Homes and Gardens
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons snipped fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/2 tsp. salt
dash ground black pepper
1 14 - 18 ounce baguette or Italian bread
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a small bowl combine butter, parsley, garlic, salt, and a dash of black pepper.
Without cutting through bottom crust, slice baguette in 1-1/2-inch slices. Generously spread butter mixture between slices. Wrap baguette in heavy foil. Bake 15 minutes or until heated through. Serve warm. Makes 10 to 12 slices.
