  • 3/4  cup  waterOn Sale

  • 1  to 2  fresh serrano peppers*, halved lengthwiseOn Sale
  • 2  teaspoons  finely shredded lime peel (set aside)On Sale
  • 4  teaspoons  lime juiceOn Sale
  • 3  cups  melon balls (watermelon, cantaloupe, and/or honeydew)On Sale
  • 1  large  apple or pear, cored and cut into chunksOn Sale
  • 2  medium  plums, pitted and slicedOn Sale

Directions
1.
For syrup, in a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, serrano peppers, and lime juice. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 3 minutes. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature.

Strain syrup into a large serving bowl; discard peppers and seeds. Stir in lime peel. Add melon balls, apple or pear, and plums; stir gently to coat. Cover and chill 1 to 4 hours before serving. Makes 6 servings.

*Note
For a milder flavor, serrano peppers may be omitted.
