Fontina Cheese and Artichoke Pizza

  • 1  medium
    red onion, thinly sliced

    garlic, minced

    olive oil or cooking oil

  • 1  16-ounce package
    Italian bread shell ( 12-inch Boboli)

  • 1-1/2  cups
    shredded fontina or Swiss cheese (6 ounces)

    frozen artichoke hearts, thawed

    Coarsely ground pepper

Directions
1.
In a small skillet cook onion and garlic in hot oil until tender and golden brown; set aside.

Place the bread shell on a lightly greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the fontina or Swiss cheese. Top with onion mixture. Cut up artichoke hearts; arrange atop cheese. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Sprinkle lightly with pepper.
3.
Bake in a 450 degree F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until cheese melts and pizza is heated through. Makes 12 appetizer servings.
