Directions

In a medium saucepan, whisk together granulated sugar, cornstarch and a pinch of salt. Whisk in eggnog, milk and egg yolks over medium heat until combined well. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until mixture begins to boil; remove from heat. Stir in butter and nutmeg. Let cool slightly.

Pour into small heatproof cups or ramekins, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 hours or up to 24 hours.

To serve: In a mixer bowl, beat together cream and confectioners' sugar on medium speed to soft peaks. Spoon whipped cream over custards and sprinkle with nutmeg.
