Ingredients
6 cups French-bread cubes (approximately half of a 12-ounce loaf)
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups half-and-half
2 cups sugar
1 cup raisins
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
2. Place bread cubes in a large bowl; set aside.
3. Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, sugar, raisins, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Pour over bread cubes. Let stand for 15 minutes.
4. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 13-x-9-x-2-inch baking dish. Bake for 1 hour, or until lightly browned and set.
5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine maple syrup and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until reduced to 1/2 cup. Cool slightly. Serve with warm Bread Pudding.
