Just when you thought you’d seen it all when it comes to fast food marketing, along comes a Braille burger bun.
South Africa’s Wimpy chain is hoping to draw customers—both blind and sighted—through words spelled out on 15 buns decorated with very carefully placed sesame seeds, the Los Angeles Times reports.
In a promotional video that’s gone viral, Wimpy says it wanted blind people to know the biz provides Braille menus at all its restaurants, so it chose to spread the news by providing the Braille burgers to folks at three organizations for the blind.
The video shows the sesame seeds being carefully placed with tweezers before being baked to spell out things like “100 percent pure beef burger made for you.” Wimpy claims that those 15 Braille burgers resulted in more than 800,000 messages about the buns being spread to sight-disabled people.
So much better than dressing some socialite up in a skimpy swimsuit to sell a burger, don’t you think? In fact, it’s simply, well, touching.
