Craving tortilla chips but don’t want to blow your diet? These D-I-Y chips taste better than anything out of a bag—and have only a fraction of the fat, calories, and sodium of store-bought.
Preheat the oven to 350◦. Brush 6 soft corn tortillas lightly with oil and pile them into a single stack. With a sharp knife, cut the tortillas in half and then cut each half into three wedges. Spread chips in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake about 20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp, rotating the baking sheet to ensure even browning. Serve with salsa fresca, which is low in fat and calories but packed with antioxidant nutrition.
Tip: The thinner the tortilla, the crisper the chip. Check the nutrition facts label to see how much each tortilla weighs. A 5″ tortilla should be around one ounce or 28 grams.
For a spicy variation, try these Peppered Tortilla Chips.
