When you find a good deal at your grocery store, it’s smart to stock up — but it can be a challenge to find new, tasty ways to use up all those good bargains. Each week, we bring you three original (often surprising!) recipes that feature the types of ingredients you’re likely to find on sale. Better yet, Recipe.com will even show you whether the ingredient is on sale in your area (as well as any other ingredients for whatever recipes you choose)! So you bought a bottle of teriyaki sauce to marinate your meat, and now that you’ve savored that delicious grilled salmon, say, or chicken, you’re left with what? A more-than-half-empty bottle of teriyaki sauce that, if you’re like us, will end up sitting in the fridge, slowly being buried behind other condiments, until months from now you unearth it and finally decide to throw it away.
But wait! If you like teriyaki sauce, then there are lots more ways to use it than just as a marinade. A little goes a long way as a simple dressing for green beans, for example, and you can even whip up a healthy delicious snack mix to have on hand.
1. Teriyaki Green Beans
No one wants to spend forever making side dishes, but who wants boring vegetables either? A dash of teriyaki sauce, some minced shallots and slivered almonds make for an easy and surprisingly elegant green bean side (the recipe would work great with shelled edamame, too).
2. Thai Chicken and Soba Noodle Salad
This flavorful Thai chicken salad, chock full of fresh veggies (bok choy, carrots, tomatoes and summer squash), isn’t just a great way to use up your teriyaki sauce. Chilled, it’s a perfect summer dinner or a great lunch to pack for work.
3. Spicy Asian Snack Mix
Satisfy your mid-afternoon case of the munchies with this Asian-inspired variation on classic Chex Mix, a healthier but no-less-tasty alternative to higher-calorie snacks.
