For many of us, childhood was filled with cartoon images of spinach as a lifeless green blob spilling out of a tin can. Sure, we knew spinach could give you energy, but little did we know just how delicious it can be, especially in a flavorful spinach salad.
With summer here, there’s no better time to give spinach salad a second chance. Fresh, flavorful and oh so good for you, spinach salads can be the perfect summertime lunch or dinner. One of our favorite spinach salad recipes is a strawberry-spinach salad, loaded with fresh strawberries and juicy sautéed chicken. Top it off with a tangy citrus dressing, and you’ve got a healthy and delicious dinner. Or you can get more exotic with the Layered Spinach and Pot Sticker Salad recipe, a tasty and clever fusion of fresh spinach and classic Asian flavors. The Warm Beet and Spinach Salad is a definite showstopper; the rich red of the beets and the deep green of the spinach look gorgeous on a plate. Plus this salad packs a nutritional wallop that’s hard to beat.
In fact, with spinach as your starting point, it’s hard to create a salad that isn’t nutritious and tasty. Oh, and it does also give you energy. The cartoons were right about that.
