Shrimp ScampiButtery, garlicky shrimp with a hint of white wine—shrimp scampi brings the flavors of Venice straight to your dinner table. Your favorite little red-checked-tablecloth Italian restaurant probably makes a version to die for, but once you’ve tried this simple Shrimp Scampi recipe, you may hold off on the takeout and make it at home from now on.

Simply sauté garlic in butter for a minute, add your shrimp and cook for just a minute on each side. Then stir in your wine, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, and voilà! Bellissima! Served over angel-hair pasta (or any past you like), it’s a meal in less than 20 minutes. And you’ll want to have a loaf of good crusty bread on hand to sop up all that delicious, garlicky sauce.

Very few cooks would say they enjoy deveining shrimp (the most laborious part of making scampi). So buy your shrimp already cleaned and shelled to save time.

Try these variations on shrimp scampi!
