3 Things to Make With…Pita Bread
We like pita chips, but we don’t always like shelling out the dough for them (especially when half the bag seems to be crumbs).
Eureka! Why not make our own tasty (and healthy) pita chips from our leftover pita bread?
Why didn’t we think of that sooner?
Not only are homemade pita chips tasty, they’re a healthy snack to boot. And they’re super easy. Pair them with all sorts of dips, from hummus to salsa (or even the delicious roasted veggie “caviar” here). What’s even better — make ‘em yourself, and you won’t have to fish any crumbs from the bottom of the bag.
As simple as it gets: just brush your pita with olive oil, cut the pieces into chips and roast for about 12 minutes.
Want to add a bit more flavor? That’s easy, too. Here, Italian seasoning and garlic powder do the trick, but feel free to dive into your spice cabinet to come up with your own custom flavors.
This roasted-veggie spread makes a perfect pair with your homemade pita chips. True, it’s elegant enough to serve as an appetizer to guests, but we prefer to keep it to ourselves and nibble all week long.
