TGIF! Mojito Sparkler: A Good Drink (& a Bad Joke)
Why? Because it’s only then that you realize the horrible truth: Christmas (the only holiday where all things winter are fetishized, from sleigh bells to snowmen) comes just five days after the season begins. Once you’re done singing “Jingle Bells,” you’ve basically got three whole months of winter left. And if, some late January, you pack up and find yourself a mere plane ride later trading your snow boots for flip-flops, you can never go back to pretending that paradise doesn’t exist. Because it does. It’s called St. Thomas in February.
Alas, we can’t afford to jet off to the Caribbean every time the winter blues strike. Ella Fitzgerald may have sung “I’ve got my love to keep me warm,” but you know what, a little rum doesn’t hurt either. So whip up some of these mojito sparklers this winter, pop a beachy movie in the DVD player (but, heaven forbid, not Beaches), and drift away to someplace where the palm trees are swaying.
And now for our special TGIF bad joke, which we provide as a public service of sorts. Remember, when you think the joke is funny, it’s time to put the liquor away:
Q: What washes up on tiny beaches?
