Meet Burger King’s 1,000-Calorie Sandwich
Just when you thought fast food restaurants had gone about as far as they could go when it comes to loading a simple sandwich full of gluttonous gobs of gut-busting ingredients, along comes Burger King’s Smoked Bacon and Cheddar Double Angus burger—with nearly 1,000 calories and 58 grams of fat.
What a royal diet disaster.
Don’t care about packing on the 966 calories? No concerns that 23 of those fat grams are of the saturated variety? Ready to gulp down not one, but two 6.4-ounce beef patties, along with bacon, cheese and plenty of mayo? Sorry. The New York Daily News reports the ginormous burger currently is only in stores in the U.K.
“As if just one 100-percent flame-grilled fully certified Aberdeen Angus Beef patty wasn’t enough, we added a second one for you more peckish [hungry] types,” Burger King describes the burger, according to the newspaper. “Next we smothered it in a tangy steakhouse sauce and added applewood-smoked bacon and Irish mature cheddar cheese and finally surrounded it with crisp lettuce, tomato and onion, salad and creamy mayonnaise. Gosh, we’re worn out.”
And we’re worn out thinking about the marathon we’d have to spend on the treadmill trying to burn the darn thing off. Not to mention how tiring it would be to explain away the scent of cheese, steak sauce and bacon seeping from our pores. Not so hungry now, are you?
As for those who find the calorie count to be a skosh excessive, a rep from the chain tells the media it’s not like the King is ordering folks to eat the thing every day.
“This is meant to be a treat,” a spokesperson advised.
Oh, a treat. So, that’s what they’re calling a heart attack on a bun these days.
