Here’s a challenge: think of a summer that you haven’t enjoyed at least one ice pop or popsicle. Even long after most of us stopped darting out the door at the first sound of the ice cream truck, we’ll still indulge in the simple delight of something cold and creamy on a stick.
Lighter than a dish of ice cream and much more varied than the treacly “red, orange or purple” options available at most grocery stores, homemade popsicles are sweet, refreshing and — best of all — easy to make. All you need are a freezer, sticks and your ingredients of choice.
To help inspire your popsicle-making, we’ve got some sweet and creative recipes to enjoy. These are all kid-friendly, and many feature fresh fruits and yogurt. Who said popsicles have to be unhealthy?
There’s a great root-beer float popsicle, and our minted watermelon pops are the essence of refreshing. Kids will flip for the layered luau pops, which are perfect for a summer birthday party treat.
Thanks to these recipes, you have a new challenge this summer: to not eat a popsicle every day!
Nothing beats the heat like a good old-fashioned ice pop! Explore all our ice pop recipes!
