How To Coupon: Signing Up for Sales Alerts

If you are reading this, you probably know that Recipe.com makes it incredibly easy to locate sales on ingredients you need. In case you’re not clear, here’s how it works:
You’ve decided you want to make lasagna. You search for a lasagna recipe on Recipe.com, and a little savings logo appears next to any of the ingredients that are on sale nearby. If you already have your own lasagna recipe, you can add the ingredients you need to your Recipe.com shopping list (or Shopping List app), and it will also tell you which of those ingredients are on sale and where.
This is totally great when you know what you want to cook, but I often decide what I’m making after I’ve seen what’s on sale (and what I have coupons for). Also, my picky children don’t care about the family budget, so I also have to take into account what they will eat.
Fortunately, there are some shopping websites out there that I use in combination with Recipe.com to help me get the best bang for my buck. I like MyGroceryDeals.com. Here, I create a list of the foods my family prefers, and if any of them go on sale, I get an email alert.
Let’s say I’ve chosen salmon. When salmon goes on sale at any of my local stores, I get an email alert from MyGroceryDeals. Then I go to Recipe.com and browse salmon recipes, which like I said, will also tell me any of the other ingredients that are on sale. I check my coupons to see if I can match any to these sales, and I’m off to the store, confident that I’m getting the best prices on as many items as possible!
