It might be the dog days of summer across most of the country, but stores are in the midst of their back-to-school sales cycles. Most every sale you’ll see from now until the end of August will be focused on school needs.
These sales provide great opportunities to combine with coupons and stock up not only your house for the school year, but the classrooms of your local schools as well. Even if you are not a school parent, consider donating school supplies that you get with coupons. It’s a pretty safe bet that your local school will need whatever you can bring in!
Here are the bargains you’ll likely find in August:
School lunch fixings: snack packs, cheese sticks, fruit snacks, bars.
School supplies: erasers, pens, crayons, paper, binders, backpacks, notebooks, markers
Supplies for fall cleaning (at home or in the classroom): hand sanitizers, wipes and sprays
You should also see good prices on seasonal produce. Avocados, beans, berries, cherries, corn on the cob, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes are all plentiful throughout the month.
Look as well for summer items on clearance: bug sprays, sunblock, barbecue supplies, gardening and lawn supplies, and camping items. These can all be couponed on.
Finally, August has some daily observances which some stores will mark by offering sales. In August, we’ll see Ice Cream Sandwich Day, Root Beer Float Day, Chocolate Chip Day, Watermelon Day, Champagne Day, and Mustard Day.
