Healthy Fast Food —Not as Mc-Crazy as You Might Think
When you hear people talk about “healthy” fast food, it might just mean slathering their chicken and cheese salad with one packet of Ranch dressing instead of two. Or opting for a Diet rather than a regular Coke, right?
Well, Wired reports on a new fast-food joint, eventually to become a chain, that’s out to change all that, and — hold on to your golden arches — it’s the brainchild of Mike Roberts, past president and COO of McDonald’s.
Lyfe [Love Your Food Everyday] Kitchen aims to serve quick sustainable, gourmet dishes to the masses, and that’s just what the first restaurant in Palo Alto — the heart of California’s Silicon Valley — is doing. Wired says ” … there shall be no butter, no cream, no white sugar, no white flour, no high-fructose corn syrup, no GMOs, no trans fats, no additives, and no need for alarm: There will still be plenty of burgers, not to mention manifold kegs of organic beer and carafes of biodynamic wine.”
In Roberts’ healthy vision, Brussels sprouts even replace French fries on the menu: “People say, ‘I have not had a Brussels sprout in 10 years, but I will have these four times a week’,” he tells Wired.
Can’t help but wonder who those “people” are. But we suppose stranger things have happened. However, we’ll eat our words (along with our mini cabbages) only when, five years hence, we hear our kids say: “We’ll have some B-sprouts with that dairy-free shake.”
Awesome! Point us to the drive-through and hold the mayo.
