Easy, Versatile & Delicious: Get to Know Ground Pork

Why do we love ground pork? For pretty much the same reasons we love ground beef: it’s hearty, tasty, versatile and (most importantly) it’s easy to prepare.
So if ground beef is on your grocery list every week, think about giving ground pork a spin. You can actually substitute it for ground beef in many of your favorite recipes, either in whole or in part (which can save money). A burger or meatloaf made from a half-and-half mix of pork and beef is juicy and wonderful.
Just how versatile is ground pork? Well, as these six recipes prove, ground pork is at home in everything from a rich, meaty one-dish pasta skillet to a Thai-spiced pork salad that’s substantial enough for dinner. It tweaks the flavor on old-fashioned Sloppy Joes just enough to make them seem new again, and what kid is going to turn down a giant meatball (think of it as mini-meatloaf)? Whatever you’re in the mood for tonight, chances are there’s a ground pork recipe to satisfy!
Skillet Ziti with Ground Pork
Pasta, tomato sauce and cheese combine with ground pork into a classic, easy one-dish dinner.
Sloppy Joes
Since Sloppy Joes are all about the sauce, the substitution of ground pork here doesn’t detract from the flavor (and adds some extra juiciness).
All-Star Pork Meatballs
Meatloaf is made more fun when it’s divvied up into individual meatballs!
Pork Pad Thai
The classic Thai take-out dish is super easy to make — just 15 minutes (or less time than it’d take you to look up the number of your local Thai place).
Thai Ground Pork Salad
Don’t be fooled by “salad” here; served with steamed rice, this wonderfully spiced recipe is without a doubt hearty enough for dinner.
Picadillo Rice
Another satisfying one-dish dinner, this time with rice instead of pasta (and with a Spanish-flair to boot).
