Summer Sensations: Great Grilling Recipes (a Sumptuous Sampler)

Here’s one reason I love cooking on the grill: because I live in an Olde-Timey family where the husband does all the grilling. This leaves me free to putter slowly around the kitchen, reading old magazines and occasionally calling encouraging words through the screen door about how great everything smells. Then, when he comes inside with a delicious, piping-hot Grilled Something, I say, “We’d better let it sit for a few minutes to settle the juices” and hastily throw a salad together. Sometimes I can even get him to grill the salad!
People may disagree about charcoal vs. propane, but pretty much everyone will agree that just about everything tastes better when it’s been grilled. When will someone figure out how to grill ice? I live for the words, “Can I grill you a Coke?” Until then, these grilled dishes — from a spicy BBQ brisket to (heavenly surprise!) a grilled banana split sundae — will keep me happy.
