The first day of green bean season isn’t a holiday, but we think it ought to be. After all, the best part of most holidays is the food. (Think of Halloween candy, Christmas cookies, Thanksgiving turkey.) And few foods are more delicious than fresh green beans.
Green beans are one of those vegetables that tastes great cooked too. You can prepare them in so many ways, and their flavor compliments everything from savory garlic and bacon to the bright tang of citrus. (And speaking of holidays, for many of us, it isn’t Thanksgiving without green bean casserole.)
Like the aforementioned, green beans are also wonderful in casseroles and stews. However, since we’re celebrating fresh green beans, we want to focus here on recipes that truly showcase the flavor of the beans themselves. So each of these recipes is simple: five ingredients or less. With fewer distractions, you’ll be able to really enjoy just how delicious fresh green beans are. And that’s cause for celebration.
Make all of these wonderful fresh-as-summer green been recipes!
