Gluten-Free Game-Day Snacking

We’re having some friends over for our Super Bowl bash this year who have a gluten-free diet, so we’ve felt rather compelled to try out every gluten-free snack in the store.
My kids are both very familiar with the gluten-free aisle in the store—not because they have problems with gluten but because they’re crazy for Enviro Kids products. My daughter can’t get enough of the “monkey cereal” which is actually called Gorilla Munch and tastes a lot like Kix. My son is mad for the Cheetah Berry Bars which are kind of like granola bars.
As we stood in the aisle, chopping on a hastily opened box of Gorilla Munch, my son piled “snacks to try” into our cart while my daughter yelled “dat one.” They are both are suckers for anything in the shape of a stick—or, in this case, a twig. After trying them all at home, they gave these Mary’s Gone Crackers Twigs the thumbs up. Then it was time to find a dip that was twig-worthy, and this we were making ourselves.
We experimented with all kinds of things but hummus was the big winner. We tried Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Carrot Hummus, and Easy Hummus. Seems like a lot of hummus to test, but the kids cannot get enough of the food processor. Especially my son—it’s like operating machinery! All the recipes we tried turned out hummus that’s delicious enough to serve at Super Bowl, but given the 15 other things we’ll be making, (like chili and corn bread and wings) we’re going with Easy Hummus on the big day. The name says it all…
Try these gluten-free recipes for snacks, main dishes, and desserts!
