Could we eat a burger larger than our children? True, we love burgers big, but even we can’t say we’ve been quite that hungry.
So it occurs to us that the folks from Mallie’s Sports Grill & Bar in Southgate, Mich. (former Guinness Book of World Records winners) were drowning in leftovers last week when they served up a 338-pound hamburger. Talk about a whopper.
Tummy growling? Ours is actually turning a bit at the thought of the “Absolutely Ridiculous Burger.” And our eyes? They’re pretty much rolling at the $2,000 price tag listed right there on the menu for the restaurant’s previous mass of meat weighing a mere 319 pounds, as reported by The Detriot News.
“It comes with fries and a drink,” Mallie’s manager Jason Jones tells the newspaper, which, of course, totally justifies the cost of the burger dressed up with a 100-pound bun, 15 pounds of lettuce, 30 pounds of bacon, 30 pounds of tomatoes, and 36 pounds of cheese.
And if you’re curious how many Weight Watchers points that three-foot-tall bad boy would set you back? Try a gazillion. According to the News, it’s 540,000 calories of ground beef glory.
The Travel Channel was on hand at Mallie’s, filming the burger for its “Food Paradise,”the newspaper reports, adding that it takes 22 hours just to cook the dang thing.
We no longer feel the slightest bit guilty about ordering that Quarter Pounder with cheese. In fact, we might just add extra mayo.
