broiled fish with lemonEveryone has time for fish, even the busiest, most frazzled of us. It doesn’t get much easier than a a baked-fish recipe, which usually says something to the effect of: pop it under the broiler for about 10 minutes, or until it’s flaky.

One of the most satisfying fish recipes we know is also the simplest: Broiled Scrod with Lemon Butter. It’s rich and delicate, with a bit of snipped parsley to add a spike of color and fresh flavor. This is a super-flexible, easy recipe. You don’t have to be bound to using scrod; cod, or another mild white fish such as flounder will do just fine. And if you don’t use butter, substitute margarine.

OK, we know what you’re thinking: Fish smells up my kitchen. But when you broil it, not only does it not have the splatter factor of pan-frying, it also cleans up in a snap. Simply cook the fish on an aluminum foil–lined baking sheet, and then toss the foil when the meal’s over. Done!

the cinnimon pan in the oven is good. you can also do it a a small sauce pan bringing water, cinnamon, cloves and orange peelings to a boil. also in the microwave in a glass mug you can set it in another room.

If you want to rid your kitchen of the smell of fish or anything else which lingers. Use a small soup bowl and fill it halfway full of white vinegar. Set it on the counter and it absorbs the odors, Try it….

Your answer to “fish smells up my kitchen” really did not address the issue. You state if you broil it on foil….no worries with splatter or clean-up. That answer still doesn’t address the SMELL !

      Leigh,

To get rid of the fishy smell you can sprinkle cinnamon on a cookie sheet or pie pan. Set the oven to 200 degrees and put the pan in the oven for 10 minutes. I always do this when I cook something that leaves a strong odor; it really works. I hope this helps.
