Hosting a Christmas party is a hallmark of the holiday season, but there’s no reason to be stressed about throwing one. You just need a few key recipes to impress your guests and keep them feeling the spirit of the season. Start with a festive holiday cocktail (sparkling wine is always a winner!) to get everyone in a celebratory state of mind, then move on to appetizers. When you’re choosing your holiday appetizers, be sure to keep them bite-sized—you want your guests to feel free to move about and mingle.

For a main course, we’ve selected two dishes that don’t require flatware—your guests can help themselves to mustard-topped salmon or a pulled pork sandwich as they chat with friends. (A full seated dinner can feel stuffy.)

Finally, dessert. You want to leave your guests with a sweet memory as they exit the party, so offer them a pretty cookie, candy, or slice of rich pound cake. Happy hosting!
