Fast Food Chains Bust Out January Meal Deals

Who knew the fast food biz had a bargain bin? In the same vein as Black Friday retail shopping sprees, it turns out the nation’s quick burger, pizza and taco joints use January to tout sales of their own, USA Today reports.
Big deals resulting in big sales? Well, fast food restaurants could sure use them this year. According to the newspaper, the NPD Group, a market research company, expects visits to the eateries to “be flat” through the first half of the year.
“Nobody’s expecting this to be a great year,” restaurant industry blogger Scott Hume tells USA Today. “There’s a real tone of worry.”
And, so, the folks at KFC are hoping you’ll dig into $11 Weekend Buckets—that’s ten pieces of the Colonel’s chicken for $4 less than usual, according to the newspaper.
Or, maybe you’d be interested in Wendy’s 99-cent 2.25-ounce Cheesy Cheddarburger, Taco Bell’s 99-cent Beefy Crunch Burrito or Jack in the Box’s $4.29 combo meal featuring a Jumbo Jack burger, two tacos, small fries, and a 20-ounce drink, USA Today adds.
Sadly, if “lose weight” was your New Year’s resolution for 2012, you may want to pass on these deals. Having to spend money to buy bigger clothes won’t make them much of a bargain.
