Food is as important as the big game on Super Bowl Sunday, so be prepared. Super Bowl parties are meant for snacking, so salsas and dips are a must. But don’t default to jarred supermarket brands—it’s simple and easy to create your own fresh versions, and the flavor of homemade is definitely worth the effort.

We’ve got 10 flavor-packed salsas and dips sure to be a big hit with a house full of football fans, from classic tomato salsa to warm jalapeño-crab dip. The key is to give your guests variety, so choose contrasting flavors and textures. Creamy dips are typically more filling, so if you don’t plan to serve a main course, you might want to set out a few of these to make sure your guests are satisfied. (Seven-layer Mexican Dip, pictured below, is a great choice.)

And be sure to buy extra crackers, chips, and raw veggies. With dips and salsas like these, they won’t last long.
