Canned tomatoes are perhaps the epitome of the classic pantry staple. Although most tomato lovers would agree that nothing quite compares to fresh homegrown tomatoes right off the vine, who would want to limit their tomato consumption to just a few short months of the year?

It was no doubt the downright tastiness of tomatoes that made them prime candidates for canning generations ago. Today, we know that tomatoes aren’t only tasty, they’re wildly good for you as well. Rich in an array of vitamins (including vitamin C) as well as antioxidants, eating tomatoes has been linked to everything from better heart health to a reduced risk for osteoporosis.

Canned diced tomatoes make it ridiculously easy incorporate more tomato into your diet. Sure, you may be used to picking up a can or two when your making an Italian recipe, but there’s a whole range of delicious dishes in which canned diced tomatoes take a star turn, like these…

I love using diced tomatoes in a can with any pasta as a quick meal, also like adding diced tomatoes to my spaghetti sauce.. And my favorite is using them to make a salsa for tortilla chips.
