Christmas Cookies: Delight by the Dozens

It’s just not Christmas without a tray of holiday cookies. This time of year, everyone’s got a favorite, whether it’s a classic sugar cookie or playful gingerbread men. And nothing makes for great childhood memories like those December afternoons spent in the kitchen, surreptitiously sneaking a taste of sugary glaze and surrounded by the warm sweet smells coming from the oven. Long after your kids forget what gadgets they got for Christmas, they’ll remember what it was like to have to wait for the first batch to cool on the counter.
We’ve got a lineup of 10 great cookies — some traditional, some more inventive, and some that just might make your kids wonder whether leaving them out for Santa is worth the tradeoff. So don’t be afraid to try something new. Yes, everyone loves pecan snowballs, but how about mixing things up with a cream-cheese-and-orange-zest Christmas tree? Or serve up a plate of patchwork mittens — everyone will wonder how you did it. (It’s easier than you think.)
So fire up the oven and haul out the flour — ’tis the season for baking!
