Chirpy Kid’s Breakfast: Bird in a Nest

Flowers are blooming, birds are singing — spring is definitely here! That means mama birds are building their nests, and we always like to see which ones appear in our favorite climbing trees. My kids love to peek inside to see if there are eggs yet, or even more thrilling, little baby birds. But I always have to tell them that as cute as the birds can sometimes be, not to disturb them. Instead, I came up with this “nest” that I don’t need to worry about my girls messing with!
What You’ll Need:
1 bagel
1 apple
1 grape
sprinkles
dab of peanut butter (optional)
To Make Bird in a Nest:
Prepare bagel as you wish and place halves together on a plate. Cut the side off of the apple and stick into the center of the bagel. Slice the remaining part of the apple into 2 wings, 3 smaller strips for the feathers, and 1 small triangle for the beak. Cut small notches into the top of the “bird” and insert the 3 small strips. Cut 2 slices from center of grape. Gently press sprinkles into the middle of each grape slice and put in place for the eyes. Place the beak. (I was able to get the eyes and beak to stick by just wiping off the excess moisture with a paper towel, but if you need extra adhesion, try using a dab of peanut butter.)
